Today I woke up and the sun was shining. This was only 5 minutes ago but I have coconut oil in my mouth and water being brewed for tea so I’m in a wonderful mood! 5 things I’m thankful for today:
1.Hot Tea– I love everything about tea and after a year of tipping the scales and drinking more coffee than the aforementioned, I’m suddenly drinking about 4 cups of the leaves and none of the beans. I’m also sleeping alot better at night. My favorite thing about tea: the beautiful steam that rises over a cup after being freshly brewed.
2. My Internship– As much as I loved working with kids last year, it was not a walk in the park. I seem to have never outgrown my high school aversion for classrooms and the settings were still as I remembered them- dusty, smelly, and stifling. Now that I’m working inside the Golden Gate Park, everyday is literally a walk in the park. The museum is also incredibly beautiful and it’s amazing to know I have Turrell statues I can sit inside everyday.
3. An Empty House– I only moved to Oakland a week and a half ago but as the new person in a house knows, at first you walk on eggshells a bit. You’re feeling out the situation, learning how things are done in that household, and slowly making room for yourself and your belongings. It’s a process I don’t mind, especially since my housemate is a florist, but last night I had the entire house to myself and it was soooo good.
4. Groupon– No this isn’t a plug since I don’t have any readers and this is probably going to be a private post. But seriously, I’m getting my hair cut and colored next week for $50 and I’ve gotten a chance to get back in to Bikram at $25 for ten classes. I guess more than anything, I’m thankful for getting out of a rut at a price I can afford
5. My health, my happiness, my equanimity– Whenever I move to a new place, I typically have more time and move a little more slowly. I absolutely love that I am reading at least an hour each day, making sure to eat properly, and going for runs. I feel balanced and it of course boils down to diet, what I’m feeding my mind and body. Sometimes I get too caught up in other people, work, or life and don’t take the time to make sure I’m nourished but right now I feel so majorly balanced.
